Weekly Skinny: January 4th

Happy New Year! Now that 2020, finally turned 2021 it’s time to celebrate! Somebody pop the champagne, please. I’m happy to finally be out of 2020 and although that doesn’t mean everything magically changes, it’s an opportunity for us to reset, wipe the metaphorical slate clean, and adopt some healthy action in our lives (whatever that may be).

This year I’m placing a big emphasis on my career. I want to conduct more research about my field, read more to further my knowledge on marketing and PR, and work on outside projects when I have the time. I want to take more pictures, try new mediums, and work on my writing and editing skills. Other than that, everything else of 2021 will be a surprise, whether that be relationships, trips, and opportunities.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve shared a Weekly Skinny post, so stick with me if it’s longer than normal! Here’s what I’ve been loving recently.

Bridgerton – Okay, Netflix didn’t have to go so hard on Bridgerton. As someone who loves a period piece, it was hard for me to get on board with this as I watched the first episode. Around episode three though, forget about it – I was hooked. This show, albeit a little graphic in some episodes, is the perfect combination of Emma, Pride & Prejudice, and Gossip Girl.

Knit Maxi Dress – In an effort to find the perfect Christmas Eve dress, I ended up finding the perfect every day dress instead. This turtleneck maxi dress from Zara is the perfect answer to a crisp day out. Style it with your favorite sneaker and jazz it up with a trench and fun jewelry for a head to toe look. It runs true to size and is under $50. I’m wearing a size small for reference.

Chateau Puffer Jacket – After months of telling myself “don’t buy it”, I finally got my hands on one of J.Crew’s Chateau PrimaLoft Puffer jackets. This jacket is warm, well-made, and features several pockets so carrying a purse isn’t needed. It has a detachable sherpa-lined hood and hand warmers in the sleeves. Somebody returned the hot pink in an extra small, tall to the Ponce City Market store and I took it as a sign to use those few J.Crew gift cards I had and finally treat myself.

Cloud Sweatpants – 2021 and we’re still living in sweatpants but I’m not complaining. These cloud fleece sweatpants are so soft and comfy and perfect for working from home. They run true to size and have pockets, which is always a plus too!

Peaky Blinders – This has been my Christmas break binge. I’m cruising through my TV show recommendation list quickly and finally made my way to Peaky Blinders. This show about a gypsy gang in post-World-War-One England had me talking in a Birmingham accent for two weeks. Five seasons are on Netflix with season six in the making.

The Perfect Bodysuit – Although I’m not going out to bars, a girl can dream right? This bodysuit will be hanging in my closet waiting for the day going to a bar without restrictions is deemed acceptable. I love the peasant blouse inspired top with a billowing sleeve. It’s perfect for four season wear and looks great with fun skirts or a classic pair of jeans.

Boots for a Night Out – I guess I have going out on my mind, but these boots are perfect for heading out for a night with your friends. Currently on sale, these studded cowboy ankle boots are unique and perfectly comfortable for a night around town.
